Acquired by WMed in January 2016, the Innovation Center on the Parkview Campus is a 69,000-square-foot facility located in Western Michigan University’s Business, Technology and Research Park.
The building, formerly the Southwest Michigan Innovation Center, is integral to the medical school’s plan to expand its research footprint and portfolio. Currently, it houses 17 client companies that are engaged in several laboratory research endeavors and researchers from companies at the Innovation Center are appointed as faculty at the medical school.
The Innovation Center supplements the two research floors at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus by providing incubator space that serves to advance research discoveries to commercialization and more opportunities for research experiences for learners.
