In the state of Michigan, there are six (6) categories of CME Credit. Details on all six categories can be found in this PDF on Types of CME Credit.
WMed currently provides Category 1 credit to all physicians attending accredited activities. Other health professionals (e.g. nurses or PAs) can claim this type of credit; however, because we are required to differentiate physician and non-physician attendance rates, their credit will be recorded as "attendance". All attendees can access their transcripts through our website at any time. Click on "My Transcript" from either the "Evaluation Forms" or "Calendar" pages. We do recommend that non-physicians save copies of the certificates of attendance for their records as the transcript may not contain all of the information required for submitting their educational credits.
Upon request, graduated WMed residents may receive 60 hours of Category 6 (equivalent to Category 1) credit. The CME Department does not automatically apply this credit to graduated residents. Please contact us if you wish/require this credit.
WMed does not document and/or track Category 3 credit. Physicians may receive Category 3 credit for speaking at accredited activities. This credit is earned for the time taken to prepare a lecture, not for the lecture itself; therefore, a physician may only claim this credit a single time for any given lecture. If you wish to receive credit for speaking, we recommend you submit your time directly or request it from the AMA.
