Kristine Gibson, MD is the assistant dean for clinical applications reporting to Ernie Yoder MD, associate dean for educational affairs. In this role, Gibson is responsible for oversight of the clerkships and electives in the MD degree program in years 3 and 4 working in collaboration with the clerkship, discipline, and elective directors. Dr. Gibson is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, serves as the clerkship director for the pediatric and adolescent medicine clerkship, and provides patient care as a pediatrician in the WMed Pediatrics clinic. Dr. Gibson grew up in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Prior to joining the medical school in January 2015, she served as a pediatrician with Pediatrics, PC in Portage, Michigan for sixteen years. She attended the University of Michigan and UC Irvine, and earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She did her pediatrics residency and served as chief resident at DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Dr. Gibson currently serves as a member of the Bronson Hospital Foundation Board and is vice president of the Southwest Michigan Eating Disorders Association. She is also a board member of the Kalamazoo County Great Start Collaborative and is involved in the Kalamazoo County Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Prevention and Treatment Project. Her special interests include eating disorder treatment and prevention, mental health, and early childhood development.
