Welcome to the WMed Pediatric Oral Cleft Clinic
Our Pediatric Oral Cleft Clinic provides multi-disciplinary assessment and planning for the child with cleft palate. The team members include: plastic surgeon, oral surgeon, orthodontist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, psychologist, social worker, dietician, ENT physician, audiologist, pediatrician, and nurses.
Children's Multidisciplinary Specialty Clinics
Many of our patients are covered by Children's Special Health Care Services. This allows us to provide enhanced services including a multidisciplinary clinic in which patients may be seen by nutrition, physical therapy, psychology and dentistry in addition to our clinic team. The State of Michigan allows children with this diagnosis one comprehensive visit, three follow up visits and 10 supplementary visits per year.

WMed Oral Cleft Clinic has been approved through the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association as a Cleft Palate Team by the Commission on Approval of Teams according to the Standards for Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Teams. For more information, visit www.team-approval.org.
On February 1, 2012, WMed received notification from the commission on approval of teams that our Cleft Clinic's application for a 'Cleft Palate Team' was approved. The team applied for recognition in the fall of 2011 and underwent a site visit and strenuous standards evaluation, and currently meets the Standards for Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Teams as set forth by the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association.
The Cleft Palate Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial birth defects.

3rd Friday of each month from 8 AM - 12 PM
We provide 24-hour care with full telephone availability during evenings and weekends. We urge you to call us before going to an emergency room.
