My daughter’s illness, although unpleasant and stressful, inspired me to become a competent pediatrician. The fact that the WMed pediatrics residency program is the perfect place for me to achieve that goal was quite obvious early during my interview process. The unique hospitality and the family environment that embraces everyone in the department, including residents, staff, and faculty, made me look forward to spending most of my time among this group of people for the next three years of my life and hopefully beyond. They are an amazing group of pediatric residents and staff that are always there to help you. The humble, knowledgeable, and easily accessible faculty members provide residents with great learning opportunities that you can hardly find in a university program. Bronson Methodist Hospital is a beautiful hospital that provides the latest technologies in a classy, relaxing environment. Being a physician, husband, and a father, I was looking for a place where I could maintain a work-life balance. Here in Kalamazoo, in the WMed pediatrics program, I found a great opportunity to serve sick children, learn, enjoy my free time, and to raise a family without facing the daily stressors of big crowded cities.
