Why I chose the WMed Medicine-Pediatrics Residency program:
I really liked the collaborative and encouraging environment I found here. I also really like having the benefits of an academic program with a broad variety of patients located in a smaller city that is easy to navigate, close to many outdoor activities, and has a low cost of living.
My hobbies and interests include: Spending time with my family and friends, running, hiking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, cooking, gardening, and playing oboe and piano
Something else you should know about me: I know where the Chinese and Indian grocery stores are in Kalamazoo — you can ask if you're curious!
What I like most about Michigan: I really like the parks and outdoors. Lake Michigan is beautiful and there are many great parks and bike trails within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, as well.
The most important thing I learned while doing my residency program: You cannot always cure your patients, but you can always care for them. And you can learn something every day to improve their care.
Favorite quote: "Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway." — Mother Teresa
Something that I would like those considering applying to the WMed residency program to know: Residency is a time of a lot of learning and hard work, but it's also very rewarding. Find a place with the people, program, and surroundings that will help you feel energized and productive.
