Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
I rotated on the inpatient floor at Bronson Methodist Hospital during the end of my third year. At that point, I had only done one pediatrics rotation. I was nervous because I had never been to Kalamazoo before and this was my first away rotation. However, when I arrived here, I felt at ease. Everyone was super nice and immediately made me feel like I was a part of the team. I never hesitated to ask a question, because the residents and attending were always more than happy to explain things. I really appreciated how Friday lecture time was protected time and only once a week. This way, the flow of the day was not interrupted for lecture. However, a lot of learning occurred on the floor throughout the day, as well. I liked working with residents from other programs. The residents from different specialties all had a different way to view things, which enhanced the learning of the entire team.
Returning to Kalamazoo, over a year later, I can see why I’m back. Residency has only just begun and I already feel like I have learned a ton and made some really great friends. This is just a very happy program and I’m glad I chose it.
