Why I chose the WMed Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program: Before my interview, I heard from current residents about the welcoming atmosphere and rigorous academics at WMed. When I came for my interview I was particularly impressed by the formal teaching at the morning report that I was able to attend. What I only had an idea of then, but now experience on a daily basis, is the degree of personalization in medical education at WMed. Attendings and staff that know your strengths and weaknesses across inpatient and outpatient practices optimizes the resident's experience.
My hobbies and interests include: Dancing, skiing, swimming, hiking, cycling, and juggling
Something else you should know about me: I am very happy living in Kalamazoo and working at WMed
What I like most about Michigan: Small town America is a hidden treasure. Coming from a big city, I was not prepared for how friendly everyone would be.
The most important thing I learned while doing my residency program: There is no substitute for hard work
Favorite quote: "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives" - Anne Dillard
Something that I would like those considering applying to the WMed residency program to know: I chose WMed because of the clear commitment to education and teaching. Having peers and mentors that walk you through difficult procedures, differentials, and management issues has been invaluable.
