Events and Programs

The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs proudly sponsors a broad spectrum of programs and activities aimed at connecting and supporting our faculty, staff, alumni, students, residents, and friends of the medical school. We also supervise and direct the planning and coordination of fundraising events involving selected student/alumni affairs for the School of Medicine.

2021 Events

WMed Live: A First Decade Celebration – May 27, 2021 

WMed celebrated its first 10 years of accomplishments and the retirement of Founding Dean Dr. Hal B. Jenson at its live virtual gala, WMed Live: A First Decade Celebration. The community also welcomed the new dean of WMed, Dr. Paula M. Termuhlen, during this special event.

Southwest Michigan First Chamber Connect – June 9, 2021

WMed hosted the Southwest Michigan First Chamber Connect on June 9, 2021. Over 100 community business leaders enjoyed an evening of conversation and networking at WMed's W.E. White Coat Sponsorship Program – Fall 2021

Friends of WMed are invited to serve as a white coat sponsor to support a WMed student as they begin their medical education and their journey to become a physician. Sponsoring an entering medical student for their white coat ceremony often results in a special bond between the donor and student.

Dean’s Circle Leadership Giving Society Social Gatherings – August 19, 2021 

Dean’s Circle members are invited to several social gatherings throughout the year to connect with one another and receive in-depth information about some of the exciting new activities underway at Kalamazoo’s premier medical school. Hanson Society Alumni Day - October 9, 2021

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Development and Alumni Affairs will host a special gathering for the Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies Orthopaedic Residency Class of 1991. Alumni will enjoy a lecture presentation, a tour of the facility, lunch, and a WMU Bronco’s home football game. If you are interested in attending please contact Lori Larsen.

Philanthropy Celebration Luncheon – November 11, 2021 

The Philanthropy Celebration Luncheon is a special gathering of WMed donors and community members who continue to support Kalamazoo’s premier medical school throughout the fiscal year. Food, beverages, and a brief program will take place to celebrate the accomplishments made in the previous fiscal year and welcome new donors to our societies of distinction. Community Tours

The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs will host regularly-scheduled guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus to provide friends of WMed with a personal and informative perspective on what life is like for our future clinicians, leaders, educators, advocates, and researchers of tomorrow. Match Day Congratulations – Spring 2022

Match Day is an annual event that marks the day our graduating medical students learn their residency destinations. Friends of WMed can support the next generation of physicians in two ways: Send a congratulatory message to graduating students or make a gift in their honor.

Annual Imagine Gala – May 21, 2022 

The Imagine Gala is WMed’s premier fundraiser each year. The event will be a dazzling experience featuring live entertainment, gourmet dining, signature cocktails, and more! It is sure to be an unforgettable one-of-a-kind event for everyone in attendance.   


Body Donation Program

Individuals may choose to donate their body to WMed to be used in the advancement of medical science, teaching, and study.

Hosting Opportunities
