WMed residents have the opportunity to benefit from the MiLES program. Funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Michigan Loan Reimbursement & Employment Solution (MiLES) program offers $50,000 in loan reimbursement during residency in exchange for a two year employment commitment post residency.
MiLES aims to decrease the shortage of primary care physicians in rural and medically underserved areas of Michigan by incentivizing physicians to work in MUA or HPSA communities. The ultimate goal of the program is to match physicians with employment that would extend well beyond the two year commitment.
